Part-Time Toddler Assistant Teacher

Our part-time assistant teacher positions can help build your resume and help you to gain experience working with children. Our part-time positions are extremely flexible and can accommodate class schedules and other obligations. Our college staff is welcome to visit home during class breaks and resume shifts once they return.

As a part-time toddler assistant teacher, you will work with children ages 1-3 daily. This age group is still in diapers, so you must be comfortable changing diapers daily. Brief and friendly communication with parents during drop-off and/or pick-up will happen daily. You will assist the full-time classroom teachers with learning activities, changing diapers, maintaining a clean and organized classroom, and more.

We are closed for the following holidays: New Year’s Day, the Monday following Easter Sunday, Memorial Day, Independence Day, Labor Day, Thanksgiving Day, Christmas Eve, and Christmas Day. Good Friday (the Friday before Easter Sunday) and Black Friday (the Friday following Thanksgiving) are in-service days. Staff are required to attend at least one of the two in-service days, but can choose to attend both if they wish.

Afternoon shifts (until 5:30PM) are strongly preferred at least several days a week. Morning/midday availability only can still be considered. All employees must be 18 years or older.

Assistant Teacher Requirements:

• 2,500 hours of documented experience working with children, which can include babysitting, volunteer work, church programs, etc.

Requirements that can be completed as part of onboarding:

• 3 required background checks: FBI fingerprint clearances, Child abuse clearance and State police background check
• Recent health assessment and TB test

Assistant Teacher Responsibilities:

• Must have a love for children and be comfortable communicating with parents in our Child Care Center
• Will work with children in the young toddler classroom (1-2 years) and older toddler classroom (2-3 years)
• Must be comfortable changing diapers and/or helping children in the bathroom
• Must be willing to interact and engage all children under your supervision

• Flexible hours – willing to work with college schedules
• Hours available between 8am-5:30pm Monday through Friday

Assistant Teacher Pay:

• $12-14/hour
• Includes a complimentary or reduced rate Y membership depending on the number of hours worked
