CAYS Rec Soccer

Recreational soccer is designed to introduce beginner players to the game of soccer and teach the basics and fundamental skills of the game. Players are divided equally among the teams based on their skill level, and players will receive equal playing time during games. Coaches and parents are encouraged to focus on player development and improvement throughout the season. Practices will be held one night per week and games will be held mostly on Saturdays.

  • Combined U5 and U7 and made co-ed teams
  • Combined U13 Girls and U13 Boys and made co-ed teams (games are 7v7)
  • U10 has enough participants to run boys’ and girls’ divisions (games are 6v6)

Evaluations will run from 5:30-6:30pm at the George B. Stuart Athletic Fields (1213 Rockledge Drive, Carlisle)

  • Monday, August 10 – U13 Boys and Girls
  • Tuesday, August 11 – U10 Girls
  • Wednesday, August 12 – U10 Boys

DUE TO COVID-19, your registration fee is 100% refundable up until September 5, 2020. We will follow guidelines from Eastern PA Youth Soccer Association and will move through Stages 1-5 as EPYSA recommends. We will provide players with a soccer experience that is in compliance with EPYSA guidelines and will not give refunds after September 5 if we are unable to progress from one stage to the next.

The fundraiser is REQUIRED for all participants and the fee will be collected at the time of registration. This fee can be refunded upon completion of the fundraiser.

Q: Under which age group does my child fall?

The age groups are determined by the year in which your child was born. For the 2020-21 soccer year age groups will be:

  • U5 – born in 2016; this division is co-ed
  • U7 – born in 2014 & 2015
  • U10 – born in 2011, 2012 & 2013
  • U13 – born in 2008 & 2009, 2010

Q: Are the age groups co-ed?

The U5 division is co-ed. All other divisions are separated in to male and female divisions.

Q: What are the dates for each season?

Fall season runs from mid-August through the beginning of November.

Spring season runs from mid-March through the beginning of June.

Q: When are practices and games?

Practices are held once a week for an hour on Monday, Tuesday, Wednesday or Thursday. There are no practices on Fridays.

Games are held on Saturdays between 9am and 2pm (times vary each week). One or two games may be scheduled during the week depending on the number of teams in each age group.

Q: Where are practices and games held?

All practices and games are held at the George B. Stuart Athletic Fields, located at 1213 Rockledge Drive, Carlisle, PA 17015. No smoking is allowed at the fields; this includes the parking lot and the bathrooms.

Q: Does my child have to try out to make a team?

Every child who is registered by the deadline will be placed on a team. We hold evaluations that help us determine each player’s ability level and make teams with mixed abilities.

Q: How does the team selection process work?

Following the evaluations, CAYS staff forms the teams based on the evaluation scores and schedule requests as indicated when you registered. Our main goal is to make the teams as even as possible, and we do not focus on keeping teams together from one season to the next.

Q: What equipment will my child need?

Shin guards are mandatory for all practices and games. Your child should bring a soccer ball to practice (see below for correct size). Soccer cleats are not required but are strongly recommended over sneakers (baseball cleats are NOT allowed). Players are encouraged to bring a water bottle to practices and games.

  • U5 – Size 3
  • U7 – Size 3
  • U9 – Size 3
  • U13 – Size 4

Q: What does the registration fee include?

The registration fee includes a jersey, administration fees and field maintenance/upkeep/lining and equipment purchases. The fee for U13 also includes referee fees.

Q: What is the fundraiser fee?

The fundraiser fee is now collected at registration for all participants. The fee amounts remain the same as they have been in the past: $30 for the first child, $15 for the second child and $0 for any others.

Q: Can I get my fundraising fee back?

Yes, you can. If you complete the minimum requirement for selling sandwiches or purchasing CAYS apparel/gear, your fundraiser fee will be refunded to you.
