Y Talk: Basketball Drills by Kelly Tyrrell
While our basketball season is on pause, here is a five-minute video of basketball exercises that you can do in your driveway or basement.
These drills will help you to improve your ball control, hand speed and finger strength. Do these three times a day and you will quickly see the results!
If a certain exercise is new to you, start slowly until you are familiar with the movements. As you become comfortable with the exercise, increase your speed and begin to count your repetitions. If you make a mistake, no worries. Just pick up the ball and resume the routine.
As the video progresses, the exercises become more advanced. If a movement is too difficult for you to do, focus on the drills in the beginning of the video and do them for longer durations. Pick one new movement per day and try to master it. Then you can slowly incorporate new dribbling exercises into your routine. Feel free to add your own favorite exercises to personalize the routine.
Again, do this five-minute routine three times a day and then you can show off your new skills when we resume the basketball season in January!
