Y Talk: Homebound Smoothie by Linda Henninger

I know you all have frozen fruits and veggies, because I just returned from Giant and they were all gone! Thank goodness there is no toilet paper in this recipe.

Use your frozen fruits and veggies to create an awesome healthy immune boosting smoothie.

  • Frozen organic berries
  • Whole fat organic grass-fed plain yogurt (see below for why all the words)
  • Spinach, organic, frozen or fresh
  • Hemp hearts, flax or chia seeds
  • Protein powder (I like Keto Fit chocolate garden of life)

Blend in blender until smooth (yeah, that’s how it gets its name)

Here is perhaps more than what you bargained for in a smoothie, but sip and read up on why we are so specific about the ingredients.

  1. Berries are a great source of vitamin C and packed with phytonutrients (compounds that bring life and vitality to your cells). Buy organic. Others are loaded with pesticides, and you do not want to end up like other pests – ouch!
  2. Organic plain grass-fed yogurt. Organic because no chemical sprays on the cows’ food or put into your yogurt. Plain because if it’s not plain there has been unwanted sugar or artificial sweeteners added. Sugar compromises our immune system, which is not a good idea during a pandemic.

If you need a good book, read “Food: What the Heck Should I Eat?” Is Amazon still working?

If you attend my Thursday Early Bird and Learn class you have had most this book read to you. Haha! Regardless, it’s good for your library.

Let food be your medicine!

Blessings,

Dr. Linda
