Y Talk: Perspective by Justin Rose

Every day, every hour, there is a new mandate, order or decree – all of which further and further restrict our ability to continue with our lives as usual, or even any semblance of usual. However, I find that when we are the most stressed, we find the things that are most important to us.

As the mandated closures begin to take effect and the general displeasure of being told to self-quarantine wears off, I start to think of all the things I will miss from my everyday life. I am also surprised by what pops into my mind as some of the things worth missing.

Of course, there are the easy ones: family parities with Pictionary, bowling league or birthday parties for friends. But then, the not-so-obvious ones: those impromptu work meetings in the hall, the random conversations in the fitness center or the few silent moments walking to my car after work.

All of this has changed and will continue to change.

I hope as we move through this together, we can look back and remember the easy moments, and the not-so-obvious moments, with fondness as this will be required to make it through the challenging time ahead.

When this all passes—and it will—I challenge you to acknowledge the not-so-obvious moments and turn them into easy moments to remember and cherish.
