Aquatics Manager

The Aquatics Manager will support the Aquatics Director in the management and operation of aquatic programs and facilities. This role involves ensuring the safety and well-being of all participants, assisting with the coordination of events and maintaining the cleanliness and functionality of the aquatic facilities. While the primary location for this role will be the Y—where the Aquatics Manager will oversee all aquatics operations—there may be occasions when support is needed at the secondary aquatic facilities. This person will work closely with the Aquatics Director to deliver high-quality aquatic services.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS
  • Assist in the planning, organization and implementation of aquatic programs and events
  • Create and organize program and employee schedules. Includes management of scheduling and program software for aquatics department.
  • Recruits, hires, trains, develops, schedules and directs personnel and volunteers as needed. Review and evaluates staff performance. Develop strategies to motivate staff and achieve goals. Ensure the record of staff certifications are current and complete.
  • Monitor the safety of all participants and enforce pool rules and regulations.
  • Provide excellent customer service to all patrons, addressing inquiries and resolving issues promptly.
  • Assist in YMCA fundraising activities and special events
  • Perform routine maintenance and cleaning of the pool and surrounding areas.
  • Assist with the setup and teardown of equipment for aquatic activities.
  • Manage and update operations software with swim lessons and online classes.
  • Maintain accurate records of pool usage, incidents and maintenance activities.
  • Support the Aquatics Director in staff training and development.
  • Ensure compliance with all health and safety regulations.
  • Assist in the marketing and distribution of program information.
  • Assist with program meetings
  • Perform other duties as assigned.
QUALIFICATIONS
  • Previous experience in an aquatic environment preferred.
  • Strong swimming skills and knowledge of water safety practices.
  • Excellent communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Ability to work effectively in a team environment.
  • Strong organizational and multitasking abilities.
  • Must be 21 years of age or older.
  • CPR, First Aid, Lifeguard and Water Safety Instructor certifications are required. However, we will provide the necessary training to help you acquire these essential skills.
EDUCATION
  • High school diploma or equivalent required, with college credits preferred.
  • Additional training or certification in aquatics or recreation management is a plus.

PHYSICAL DEMANDS
  • Ability to lift and move equipment weighing up to 50 pounds.
  • Frequent standing, walking, bending and reaching.
  • Ability to work in a humid and wet environment.
  • Must be able to perform physical activities such as swimming, diving and rescuing individuals in distress.

Job Type: Full-time

Pay: From $40,000 per year
