Community Engagement Coordinator

POSITION SUMMARY:

The Community Engagement Coordinator supports the Carlisle Family YMCA’s mission by connecting people to the Y through effective marketing, communications, volunteer engagement and community outreach. This position is responsible for creating and managing engaging digital content, promoting Y programs and events, supporting membership and program participation and developing relationships with community volunteers.
The Community Engagement Coordinator works closely with Y directors, managers and staff to tell the Y’s story, highlight the impact of its programs and services and create meaningful opportunities for community members to get involved. The Community Engagement Coordinator reports directly to the Vice President of Marketing & Community Engagement..

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS:

Marketing & Communications
  • Create engaging social media content
  • Capture photos and videos to tell member and community stories
  • Help manage website content
  • Help design promotional flyers, digital graphics and other marketing materials
  • Track analytics and report on digital campaign performance
  • Create targeted email campaigns to increase membership, program participation, event attendance and community engagement
  • Help manage the Y’s program registration platform
  • Create and manage digital content for in-house television displays.
  • Promote Y programs and events on local community calendars
  • Participate in Y fundraising efforts and leadership activities
  • Represent the Y at community events at the Y and in the community
  • Perform additional duties as assigned
Volunteer & Community Engagement
  • Develop and maintain a centralized calendar of volunteer opportunities across the Y
  • Post and maintain volunteer opportunities on the Y website and other appropriate platforms
  • Recruit community volunteers
  • Respond to volunteer inquiries and connect individuals with opportunities that match their interests, skills and availability
  • Work with Y directors, managers and program staff to identify volunteer needs and develop meaningful volunteer opportunities
  • Coordinate volunteer placements and facilitate communication between volunteers and Y staff.
  • Maintain accurate volunteer records and track volunteer engagement
  • Coordinate and support Y special events and programs
  • Build relationships with community organizations, businesses, schools and other groups to expand the Y’s volunteer network.
  • Coordinate volunteer recognition, appreciation and engagement initiatives

QUALIFICATIONS:

  • Experience with photography, videography and editing software
  • Experience with WordPress website content management
  • Strong writing, editing, storytelling and communication skills
  • Strong organizational skills with the ability to manage multiple projects, priorities and deadlines
  • Ability to work independently while collaborating effectively with Y staff and community partners
  • Strong interpersonal skills and the ability to build positive relationships with volunteers, members, staff and community organizations
  • Ability to recruit, engage and connect individuals with meaningful volunteer opportunities and represent the Y positively in the community
  • Strong attention to detail and ability to learn and effectively use new technology and digital platforms
  • Commitment to the Y mission and desire to strengthen the community through meaningful engagement
  • Must complete all required Y new hire training within 30 days of hire

EDUCATION:

  • Associate or bachelor’s degree in marketing, communications, design or a related field; or equivalent work experience

PHYSICAL DEMANDS:

  • Ability to walk, stand and sit for periods of time
  • Ability to lift, carry, push and pull up to 50 pounds
  • Ability to bend, stoop, kneel, reach and move easily throughout the facility and program areas
  • Ability to set up and break down event equipment, etc.
  • Ability to work occasional evenings, weekends and special events as required
  • Ability to respond appropriately during medical, facility or emergency situations

Position Type: Full-Time

Schedule: In person weekday position with occasional evening and/or weekend hours required

Pay: $15-18 per hour
