Custodial Supervisor

The Custodian Supervisor at Carlisle Family YMCA is responsible for overseeing the cleaning operations and ensuring the facility is maintained in a clean, safe and sanitary condition. This role involves supervising custodial staff, managing cleaning schedules and ensuring compliance with safety and sanitation standards.

ESSENTIAL FUNCTIONS

• Regularly clean the facility and take on intermittent cleaning tasks
• Conduct regular inspections to maintain cleanliness standards
• Identify and report safety hazards
• Supervise and coordinate the activities of custodial staff
• Train new custodial staff members
• Manage inventory and order cleaning supplies
• Ensure cleaning equipment is maintained and in good working order
• Address and resolve issues reported by custodial staff
• Enforce compliance with safety and sanitation policies
• Perform other duties as assigned

QUALIFICATIONS

• Strong supervisory and management skills
• Excellent communication skills, both oral and written
• Ability to train and mentor new employees
• Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, supplies, and equipment
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills

EDUCATION

• High school diploma or equivalent required, with college credits preferred
• Additional certifications in custodial management or related fields are a plus

PHYSICAL DEMANDS

• Ability to lift, carry, and move items up to 50 pounds
• Ability to stand, walk, bend, and reach for extended periods
• Physical capability to perform inspections and handle cleaning equipment
• Ability to work with cleaning chemicals and equipment safely

JOB TYPE

• Full-Time
• 11am-7pm or 12-8pm
• Pay is $13-15 per hour, depending on experience
• Expected hours: 40 per week
• Monday-Friday & weekends as needed
