Custodian

The Custodian is responsible for maintaining the cleanliness and orderliness of the Carlisle Family YMCA facility. This role ensures all areas of the Y are kept in a safe and sanitary condition, providing a welcoming and pleasant environment for members, guests and staff. The Custodian will perform a variety of cleaning tasks and maintenance duties while adhering to Y standards and safety protocols.

KEY RESPONSIBILITIES

Cleaning and Maintenance

• Sweep, mop, and vacuum floors throughout the facility, including gyms, locker rooms, offices and common areas
• Clean and sanitize restrooms, showers and locker rooms, ensuring they are stocked with necessary supplies.
• Dust and clean furniture, fixtures, windows and walls.
• Empty trash receptacles and dispose of waste properly
• Maintain and clean equipment and supplies used in custodial tasks

Facility Upkeep

• Respond to emergency cleaning requests and spillages in a timely manner

Customer Service

• Provide courteous and helpful service to members, guests and staff
• Address and resolve minor facility issues or concerns as they arise

QUALIFICATIONS

• High school diploma or equivalent preferred
• Prior experience in custodial or janitorial work is a plus
• Knowledge of cleaning chemicals, supplies and equipment
• Ability to work independently and as part of a team
• Strong attention to detail and organizational skills
• Good communication skills and a friendly, professional demeanor

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS

• Ability to lift, carry and move items up to 50 pounds
• Ability to stand, walk, bend and reach for extended periods
• Ability to work with cleaning chemicals and equipment safely

Job Type: Part-time

Schedule: 5-10am Monday-Friday. Weekends as needed.

Pay: From $12 per hour (includes an individual membership to our newly renovated facility)
